What is Illegal Immigration Costing You?

I thought I would snoop around the net tonight to see what I could find in regard to illegal immigrants, in particular, the dollar costs to you, the American taxpayer.

Frosty Wooldridge: Chilling Costs of Illegal Migration:
"The chilling costs of illegal migration reach like an octopus into every aspect of our lives. Illegal aliens displaced American workers at a cost in excess of $133 billion dollars last year according to Harvard Professor George Borjas. College and high school kids cannot find a summer job in yard care, landscape, fast food or service jobs. Why? Illegal aliens work them at a third the wage and often, under the table."
  • Illegal aliens displaced American workers at a cost in excess of
  • $ 133 billion
  • 75 percent of drugs arrive from Mexico at a net cost of hard currency that leaves our country for good
  • $ 120 billion
  • Your tax dollars pay for the War on Drugs each year
  • $ 80 billion
  • You pay annually for prison
  • $ 1.6 billion
  • Lifetime net fiscal drain for an adult immigrant
  • $ 55,200 ea
  • To provide forms, ballots, interpreters and brochuresfor languages
  • other than English in 2003.
  • $ 27 billion
  • Resettlement of legal immigrants.
  • $ 68 billion

Read the whole article. These figures are from that link, wherein all sources for
these figures are given.

Now, just for grins and giggles, it costs you an additional $84,698,400 per year (not including retirement or any other benefits) in taxes to pay the total salaries for all members in both houses of Congress to do absolutely nothing about the illegal immigration crisis.

The current salary for rank-and-file members of the House and Senate is $158,100 per year.

Senate Leadership

Majority Leader - $175,600
Minority Leader - $175,600

House Leadership
Speaker of the House - $203,000
Majority Leader - $175,600
Minority Leader - $175,600
UPDATE:

I was excited for the peoples of Arizona and under the misguided belief that this state would pave the way to positive action being taken to stymie the tidal wave of illegals and the associated problems. Then I read this: Gov. Janet Napolitano vetoed Senate Bill 1167. FFS what is wrong with this clown?
"The Legislature, to date, has failed to appropriate adequate funding to allow schools to teach English-language learners," she wrote
What is wrong with them paying fees to learn the language of the country themselves? English is the nation's language, these people are immigrants , legal or illegal, looking for a better life. The first lesson that has to be instilled in them, is that the US is not a new breeding ground for the expansion of their homelands by default. She speaks of funding, ask yourself this, just what proportion of her current funding is being spent on the provision of forms, ballots, interpreters and brochures for languages other than English? See above: $27 billion spent in 2003; I am peeved. Divide this figure by the number of states, and that leaves over $500 million per state being spent of taxpayers money for this alone. Why can't they do something useful like spend it on the English language? Or, NO English, No job, fullstop, end of story. How about, you don't speak English or can't afford to learn it , sorry amigo, go back where you came from. This type of affirmative action will soon weed out the illegals, also.

* Babies born to illegals on US soil
**For the state of Arizona only. This cost cannot be fully corroborated to illegals only. However, border security is still the issue.

My grandfather immigrated to the US early in the last century. Both him and my grandmother, Italians, had six children. My grandparents spoke Italian to each other but my grandfather refused to allow his children to speak Italian. His reasoning was "your in America and you will only speak American". To him, English was American. Each of his children grew to lead successful and productive lives. Press 1 for English, Press 2 for Spanish or in California Press 1 for Spanish, Press 2 for English.

Something needs to be done to prevent Anchor Babies. I female illegal alien pops a child out and she is automatically granted a green card because her baby is an American Citizen. If it can be proven that she came to this country illegally, especially for the purpose of having her baby born here so she could circumvent proper immigration procedures, her and her child should be deported. The only way an immigrant baby born in the US should be considered a citizen is if the mother was in this country legally. A woman who breaks our laws to have a child so she can then stay here is a criminal. Just because a baby pops out on American Soil shouldn’t automatically grant the child or the parents a Free Pass.

So give or take 780 Billion a year?!
And that could still go up. How fast do the illegals multiply?
So the number above could go up in multiples

Tyler, a while back I heard a speech to the student activist group, MEChA, by CA state representative, Gil Cedillo, basically saying (I'm paraphrasing), that "the white man is dying (in terms of declining birth rates) and that the Hispanics outbreed Anglos at roughly 3:1, so it's just a matter of time...."

Given the fact that when I lived in SoCal I would see Mexican women walking down the street with at least 2 little bottom feeders in tow plus at least one in a stroller, I have no reason to doubt that claim.
